TOURIST VISA |
Tourist visas to Iraq for individuals needs to be applied inside Iraq by an Iraqi sponsor who gives a copy of the passport of the applicant/applicants with a responsibility letter to the Iraqi Ministry of Interior Affairs department and asks them to send the approval to the closest Iraqi Consulate for the applicants, then the Consulate will issue the visa directly.
For groups of 5 people or more, visa must be applied through the Iraqi tourist companies, which are contracted with the Iraqi Ministry of Tourism.

- Original, signed United States of America passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity.
- Passport-type photographs: 2
- Copy of round trip tickets or itinerary (Applicant’s name must be on itinerary)
- Approval reference number that is issued by the Iraqi Ministry of Interior Affairs department.
- A personal letter from the applicant addressed to the Embassy of Iraq, explaining the purpose of the trip, dates of travel, cities to be visited, and place of accommodation. The letter must be written and signed personally by the visa applicant or their legal guardian. A tour company cannot provide the letter on the visa applicant’s behalf

BUSINESS VISA |
All regular passport holders who are going to work or meet, permanently or temporarily at the diplomatic missions in Iraq, should not apply through the Iraqi Consulate in DC. Their diplomatic mission in Iraq must apply for them through the Iraqi Ministry of Foreign Affairs/Protocol Department and then the diplomatic mission will be informed about the approval and the Washington DC consulate will get a copy of that approval to issue the visa.

Depending on the nature of business, an approval reference number is required from the corresponding Iraq Ministry.

A business letter from the sending company in the US. The letter should be printed on the company letterhead stationery, addressed to “The Consulate of Iraq, Visa Section”, and signed by a senior manager (an equivalent to Vice-President or above). The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:
• Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant). • State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in Iraq. • Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (ie. a one year multiple entry business visa). • Guarantee of sufficient funds for travel.
