INDIA VISA APPLICATION

TOURIST VISA
  1. Original, signed United States of America passport with at least 6 months of remaining validity. MUST contain at least two blank visa pages in order for the visa to be issued.
  2. Passport-type photograph: 1. Applicant must not wear glasses in their photographs.
  3. Driver’s license. Copy of driver’s license or state issued ID, or ORIGINAL major utility bill (Water, Gas, Electric, Sewage) for the most recent month, showing the applicant’s name and current address. The address must not contain a PO Box. Address MUST match home address in your applicant profile.
  4. Copy of round trip tickets or itinerary (Applicant’s name must be on itinerary)
Former citizens of India
Former Indian Nationals that have been Naturalized must provide copy of stamped Renunciation Form or Deemed Surrender Certificate in order to apply.
     • Completed and signed Renunciation Form or Deemed Surrender Certificate.
     • Copy of Naturalization certificate.
     • Either the original Indian passport if you have it or a copy of your Indian passport if you do not have it.
     • For a child 5 years and older, signatures of the child and BOTH PARENTS are required.
     • For child less than 5 years of age thumb impression of the minor child and signatures of BOTH PARENTS are mandatory.
Additional required documents for applicants with name change
      • Marriage Certificate A copy of the Marriage Certificate if name has changed as a result of marriage.
Additional required documents for minors (under 18)
     • Application form. The minor must sign or print his or her name in the signature box under the photograph on page one. Minors that are too young to print their name should have their thumbprint stamped into the box in blue or black ink. The second page of the application form must be signed by both parents and the signatures must be NOTARIZED.
     • Birth certificate. A photocopy of the applicant’s birth certificate. The birth certificate must be the “long form” certificate which shows the names and nationalities of the applicant’s parents. Applicants born outside of the US who cannot obtain a copy of their birth certificate may submit a copy of an official document issued by Government authorities, provided it shows their personal particulars like name, date of birth, parents names, and nationality. Foreign language documents must be accompanied by a notarized English translation.
     • Parental Authorization. A Parental Authorization for Minors form from the Indian Consulate, signed by both parents.
     • Parents’ passport copies. NOTARIZED copy of the information pages of both parents’ signed passports.
     • Parents’ driver’s licenses. NOTARIZED copy of both parents’ driver’s licenses.
Persons with Occupation Related to Media
For journalists, writers, photographers, designers, and those who work with media; regardless of purpose in India, must apply for a Journalist Visa.
Former citizens of Pakistan and Sri Lanka
At this time,MPS CANNOT assist former citizens of Pakistan and Sri Lanka in obtaining a visa to India. Applicants should contact the nearest Embassy or Consulate of India to apply.
Visa validity alert
Applicants are strongly recommended to apply for the shortest duration necessary. The Embassy may issue a lesser validity visa at their discretion, regardless of the fee that is paid.
Applicants of Bangladeshi Origin
Any applicant, regardless of their nationality, of Bangladeshi origin must fill out an additional application form, IN DUPLICATE, and must provide 2 ADDITIONAL passport photos, one for each form, in addition to the one photo for their visa application.

BUSINESS VISA

  5. An ORIGINAL business letter from the sending company in the US. The letter should be printed on the company letterhead stationery, addressed to “The Consulate of India, Visa Section”, and signed by a senior manager (an equivalent to Vice-President or above). The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:

         • Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant).
         • State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in India.
         • Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (ie. a one year multiple entry business visa).
         • Guarantee of sufficient funds for travel.

  6. A business invitation letter from the sponsoring company in India. The letter should be printed on company letterhead stationery, addressed to “The Consulate of India, Visa Section”, and signed by a senior manager (an equivalent to Vice-President or above). The business letter must adhere to the following guidelines:

         • Briefly introduce the applicant (please specify employment status/position held in the company by applicant).
         • State the nature of the business to be conducted (ie. business meetings, contract negotiations, etc.) and the names and addresses of companies to be contacted in India.
         • Specify the Type and desired Validity of the visa (ie. a one year multiple entry business visa).

CONFERENCE VISA

  6. Letter from Media Company in India. Journalists affiliated with a media company going to India for Journalism purposes OR for Tourism purposes are required to submit a letter from their company stating whether or not the applicant will be going for Journalism or Tourism only.
Additional forms for Documentary Film Making. These forms must be provided if applicant is going to India to film a documentary:
     • Application for filming Documentaries/Commercials in India
     • List of Crew members and Cinematic Equipment
     • Undertaking from the Indian Employer
     • Signed undertaking for filming documentaries/commercials in India
